Hello CSOA officials!
My name is Brian Day and I am currently the President of the Collegiate Swimming Officials Association. J.B. Smith is our Secretary-Treasurer and lead web editor and Gary Matyko is our Director of Operations.
Our website will continue to focus on helping you, schedulers, and coaches connect with each other as well as building a stronger communication channel of news and officiating knowledge with our members. The website includes a blog spot where CSOA members can share information and discuss issues.
CSOA is no longer administering a test. USA Swimming has developed an excellent NCAA testing tool that is available to anyone interested in becoming an NCAA swimming official. Moving forward, you will be responsible for taking the NCAA test through the USA Swimming website and providing CSOA verification of successful completion. By leveraging the USA Swimming testing capabilities, we can focus all of our resources on making CSOA a valuable organization to you, our members, and the coaches around the country.
I know that many of you have been taking the NCAA test through USA Swimming; however, if you haven’t, you will need to establish a NEW USA Swimming account to gain access to the testing site.
This link will give you access to ordering or downloading a new rulebook:
You will only need to take a test when a new rule book is issued, currently once every two years. Because the rule book came out last year, current officials will not have to take the test, however any official new to college swimming will take the test. I encourage all CSOA officials to go to usaswimming.org to establish your personal account and password.
You can then click on the EDUCATION tab, select COURSE CATALOG and scroll down to NCAA TESTS.
When you successfully complete your test, you need to copy and paste a copy of that email to me using the CONTACT US page.
For 2024-2025 season, there will be a $20 fee to register for CSOA membership. I want to encourage any officials who have left us to come back and hopefully we can demonstrate clear value.
Thank you for your dedication to NCAA officiating! I look forward to serving you as President of CSOA!
Sincerely,
Brian Day
